Epic Lift Upgrades in the Northeast: Get up the hill faster, enjoy time on the mountain longer

“As a family of five, we love coming to Okemo for the variety of terrain options.” said Brian Prendergast, an Epic Local pass holder from Pennsylvania. “These new upgrades will go a long way in helping us get on the mountain faster!”

This year, we announced that Stowe, Okemo, Mount Snow and Attitash will receive significant investments that will transform the resort experience in the Northeast, some even starting in our current 21/22 season.

In addition to substantial upgrades at Vail Resorts’ ski areas across the country, for the 22/23 season, Vail Resorts’ Northeast ski areas will receive six lift upgrades at four resorts, increasing uphill capacity as much at 100% in some cases.

Here’s a look at the Northeast Epic Lift Upgrades:

Okemo

For this season at Okemo, the Quantum lift has been upgraded from a quad to a high-speed 6-person lift – now named Quantum Six. The existing high-speed 4-person Quantum lift is being renamed Evergreen Summit Express and has replaced the Green Ridge 3-person chairlift. The upgrades are designed to make getting on and around the mountain easier.

“As a family of five, we love coming to Okemo for the variety of terrain options.” said Brian Prendergast, an Epic Local pass holder from Pennsylvania. “These new upgrades will go a long way in helping us get on the mountain faster!”

Stowe

Stowe will replace and extend the existing fixed-grip triple, turning it into a high-speed 6-person lift.

“This new lift checks a lot of boxes for improving the guest experience here at Stowe,” said Bobby Murphy, general manager at Stowe Mountain Resort. “It will increase uphill capacity by 100 percent, eliminate the steep hike to the base of the lift and improve reliability on windy days. It will also offer beginner and intermediate guests better access to lower-level terrain choices, leading to better dispersion of guests across the mountain that will take some pressure off other popular lifts such as the Fourrunner Quad and Gondola. I think it’s going to become the go-to lift for many skiers and riders and help improve the on-mountain experience for everyone.”

Attitash

Attitash will also replace the East and West Double-Double chairs with one fixed-grip 4-person chair to improve reliability and enhance the overall guest experience.

Mount Snow

Mount Snow will replace two fixed-grip triples with one high-speed 6-person lift.

“We were thrilled to announce these lift upgrade projects, and the reception to the news has been awesome,” said Tracy Bartels, general manager of Mount Snow Resort. “The increased uphill capacity and efficiency will maximize our guests’ access to some of their favorite terrain on the mountain. We can’t wait to get these projects underway after the season and are really looking forward to seeing these new lifts spin to life next winter.”
